Goat
cheese “Bjeshkët e Rrunjës” is a well-known traditional product
of the Bulac region, produced in the village of Muhurr by farmer Selman Voka,
which is located in the Dibra area. Goat cheese “Bjeshkët e Rrunjës”, is
produced by the indigenous Bulac goat, in Muhurr Dibra, consisting of 7
members. The name “Goat cheese, Bjeshkët e Runjës”, is reserved for the cheese
that is produced exclusively from the milk of the Bulac goat, which is part of
the indigenous breeds, registered in the Catalog of Farm Animal Genetic
Resources in Albania, of 2008. This cheese is known for its high quality and
special characteristics, which are related to natural conditions and the
traditional method of production.
Goats
are known for their high-quality products, due to the natural food they find in
the rich mountain pastures of the "Bjeshkët e Rrunjës", a mountainous
area in the Dibra valley, which is known for its natural beauty and richness of
flora and fauna. This mountainous terrain is ideal for grazing goats, as they
can feed on rich and clean herbs, which are made possible by the climate and
altitude of this region. "Bjeshkët e Rrunjës" goat cheese is produced
in a traditional way, where the goat's milk is fresh and rich in nutrients.
After collecting the milk, it is put in a vat to curdle and pass into the
cheese processing phase. The use of natural milk bacteria, as well as the
preservation of ancient fermentation traditions, makes this cheese a product
with a special taste and aroma. The cheese has a rich, sour and pronounced
taste, typical of goat's milk. Depending on the ripening and storage period, it
can have a milder or more spicy taste. Goat cheese from Bjeshkët e Rrunjës is
also richer in fat, which gives it a creamier texture and a more pronounced
taste.
It
is also a rich source of protein, calcium, vitamins and minerals. Goat milk has
a higher content of healthy fats compared to cow's milk, which makes the cheese
richer in calories and more satisfying. It also contains natural probiotics,
which help improve intestinal health. Goat cheese "Bjeshkët e
Rrunjës" is a product that enjoys demand not only in local markets but
also beyond, due to its high quality and unique taste. It can be consumed as
such, served on tables as an antipasto, or it can be used to prepare
