Morphological description: Gentiana verna is a small perennial herbaceous plant (usually 5–15 cm tall). It is renowned for its beautiful flowers in deep blue color, which are among the most characteristic symbols of alpine flora. Leaves: Dark green, small, simple, ovate or elliptical in shape, arranged in rosettes at the base and scattered along the stem. Stem: Very short, often unbranched, usually bearing only a single flower at the apex. Flowers: Solitary, star-shaped with five petals, bright blue in color. They have a tubular corolla that opens into broad petals. Flowers bloom in spring (April–May) and are very attractive to pollinating insects. Fruits: Capsules containing numerous fine seeds.

Habitat and distribution in Korab-Koritnik Park: In Korab-Koritnik Natural Park, Gentiana verna is found mainly in: Altitude above sea level: 1,500–2,400 m. Typical habitats: Alpine and subalpine meadows, low-grass pastures, open slopes with poor soil and often calcareous substrate. Soil conditions: Prefers fresh, humus-rich soils, but also dry and alkaline substrates.

Ecological and conservation significance: Gentiana verna is an excellent ecological indicator for undisturbed alpine habitats. It is part of the characteristic flora of the Balkans and is included in the list of protected species in many European countries due to its specific habitat and pressures from mountain tourism and infrastructure development. In Korab-Koritnik Park, this plant is one of the elements contributing to the high botanical value and mountain biodiversity of the area. Its presence in this park is a sign of the preservation of natural alpine ecosystems.

Gentiana verna is part of a study on the inventory of rare and endemic plants for Korab-Koritnik Natural Park, being conducted by ALCDF with the expert group of the Iliria association, within the framework of the project "Protection and sustainable use of protected areas in Sharr Mountain, Mavrova, and Korab-Koritnik". This project is funded by the PONT program—Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust, implemented by ALCDF and partners CSCD and LAG Dibra Turistike.
