Meetings at the Prefectures of Dibër and Kukës within the Framework of the Project "Protection and Sustainable Use of Transboundary Protected Areas in Sharr Mountains, Mavrovo and Korab-Koritnik"

Meetings continue with key local actors from the Project "Protection and Sustainable Use of Transboundary Protected Areas in Sharr Mountains, Mavrovo and Korab-Koritnik". The Prefecture is the leading and coordinating structure of the management committees for protected areas. In recent days, the project team held meetings with representatives from the Prefectures of Dibër and Kukës, which are located within the project area. The meeting with the representative of the Kukës Prefecture, Mr. Ilmi Lisha, head of the control and territorial monitoring sector, and one of the main representatives of the management committee of Korab-Koritnik Natural Park, and Mr. Zyber Gjapi, head of the Urbanism sector at Dibër Prefecture. A meeting was also held with the Chair of the Dibër Regional Council, Ms. Valentina Haliti and Ms. Irma Sadiku, who covers legal issues and project management. During the meetings, the project team discussed the current situation of protected areas, challenges, the role of the Prefecture and Regional Council in the protected areas management committee, and presented the main project activities and results. The meetings were characterized by a positive atmosphere, and the Prefectures expressed their commitment to cooperate in the implementation of project activities and to contribute to the coordination and alignment of management committee members to effectively fulfill their role and responsibilities.

This project is financed by the German program PONT (Prespa Ohrid Nature Trust) and is implemented by the Albanian Foundation for Development of Local Capacities (ALCDF), in partnership with local organizations the Center for Sustainable Community Development (CSDC) in North Macedonia and GLV "Dibra Turistike" in Albania.
