Meetings with Protected Area Management Committees in Dibër and Kukës within the framework of the PONT-funded project

Meetings are being organized with the protected area management committees in Dibër and Kukës. On December 7, 2023, at the Prefectural Office of Dibër County under the direction of Prefect Mr. Nexhbedin Shehu, a meeting of the Protected Areas Management Committee was held, convened on the initiative of ALCDF, to discuss and analyze the functioning to date, and what priority issues could be improved in the future. At the meeting, in addition to representatives from the Prefectural Office, other public institutions, and municipalities, there were also numerous representatives of civil society organizations, which should have a greater role in protected area management issues. At the Prefectural Office of Kukës County, the meeting was held on December 11, 2023, convened by Secretary General Mr. Donal Korbi, who had invited representatives from all institutions and from civil society. At these meetings, the work done to date was assessed, issues that have progressed well, and issues that should have greater influence in the management of protected areas. ALCDF Director Lindita Manga and the project team assessed the commitment and seriousness demonstrated by the management committee, and suggested that a series of issues listed during the meetings will be worked on to be promoted and find implementation. Meetings with the co-management structures will continue in North Macedonia, with the advice of interested parties.
