Meetings with the Advisory Board for the Zero Waste Project
Activities continue on the project "Montenegro and Albania towards zero waste". In recent days, several activities have been held within the framework of the project "Montenegro and Albania towards zero waste". The meetings with the Zero Waste Advisory Board for the Margegaj Administrative Unit were very important, as this meeting discussed the plan for an awareness campaign with residents of 10 villages in this Administrative Unit, with teachers and students from schools, with businesses and institutions. Also discussed was the organization of a massive cleaning campaign throughout the Margegaj Administrative Unit, before the opening of the tourist season. The meetings with representatives from institutions of TropojΓ« Municipality, Margegaj Administrative Unit, Hygiene and others were held with great interest to discuss steps towards zero waste management, starting from waste separation at source into organic and other waste, composting of organic waste at household and community level, promoting the reuse and repair of materials, as well as waste recycling. Also very important is the development of a management plan according to zero waste philosophy, and building community spirit for a zero waste area, where everyone contributes to achieving this goal. Other awareness meetings will continue during the month of April. "Albania and Montenegro zero waste" includes two cross-border regions in Margegaj and Guci, which are two pilot governance units of the "zero waste cities" initiative and part of the European network of "Zero Waste Municipalities". This initiative is financed by EU funds, the IPA cross-border programme Montenegro and Albania.
