BEAIA promoted environmentally responsible vegetable production by reducing soil and water pollution associated with excessive or inappropriate use of agricultural fertilizers and pesticides.
The initiative demonstrated how integrated agricultural practices can simultaneously improve environmental protection, farmer knowledge and food safety.
What We Did
The project conducted baseline and post-harvest assessments of soil, irrigation water and vegetable products.
It monitored fertilizer and pesticide use during the production cycle and provided theoretical training and practical field demonstrations to farmers.
The project targeted 50 vegetable farmers, helping them understand and apply integrated agricultural practices aligned with European standards and protocols.
Key Contribution
BEAIA established a practical demonstration model for controlled, environmentally responsible vegetable cultivation.
It increased farmers' understanding of the relationship between agricultural practices, environmental quality and product safety while promoting more sustainable production methods.
