This cross-border initiative strengthened the competitiveness of the mountain tourism sector by transforming the area's natural heritage, traditional shepherd culture and rural lifestyles into distinctive visitor experiences.
The project sought to improve both the quality and diversity of tourism services while creating stronger economic opportunities for rural households.
What We Did
The initiative improved tourism infrastructure associated with traditional shepherd huts and strengthened the practical skills of rural households to host and serve visitors.
It promoted traditional products, cultural values and mountain experiences and supported the development of a stronger cross-border tourism offer.
Environmental sustainability was integrated through biodiversity promotion, wildlife awareness and installation of solar-energy systems in shepherd huts.
Key Contribution
The project improved the quality of mountain tourism experiences while increasing the capacity of rural communities to benefit economically from tourism.
It also helped position the cross-border region as a destination characterized by nature, hospitality, cultural traditions and environmentally responsible tourism.
